It tells us about the burning topics of the day. The newspaper eradicates the social evils by exposing them and making the public opinion against them. It also tells us about the calamities, the weather, the temperature of one place. They also have an advertisement for different things. They help commerce and advertisement companies to grow their production rate through advertisements. The advertised good has a brisk sale in the market and more people attracted to it.

The newspaper creating a feeling of internationalism. They have linked all the countries into one international family. They create a link between the government and the public. It helps us in taking the right decisions by giving us the opinions of more and more people. It is useful in democracy. It is helpful in attracting the public as well as the government to take decisions on those topics which are generally underestimated.

Newspapers can do much harm also by publishing domestic  quarrels, spread scandals and falsehoods creating communal hatred. It can endanger public peace and order by carrying an unhealthy propaganda because writing is more effective than military or violence.
